Bratři byli zabiti na masopustní úterý 15. února roku 1611, při vpádu pasovských vojsk do Prahy. Zabila je je sice ozbrojená pražská lůza, ale skutečným důvodem jejich smrti byla krvežíznivost a rozpoutané běsy nábožensko-občanských válek a bojů o moc, kterými trpí vždy především nevinní. Význam jejich oběti však ovlivnil celá následující staletí. Bratři byli blahořečeni 13. října roku 2012 v katedrále sv. Víta, Václava a Vojtěcha v Praze. K události blahořečení patří také vznik dvou přenosných relikviářů. Relikviáře vznikly pro současný konvent bratří františkánů u Panny Marie Sněžné v Praze, tento konvent je původním konventem, ve kterém byli bratři zabiti a kde jejich pokračovatelé téměř po celou dobu bez přerušení žijí. První, větší relikviář byl poprvé představen při slavnostní mši svaté o svátku umučených bratří 15. 2. 2014. Druhý menší, tzv. cestovní vznikal v určitých segmentech současně s větším, ale dokončen byl až koncem téhož roku. Oba jsou uloženy v konventu bratří, větší jej nikdy neopouští, menší však cestuje po Čechách i po Evropě.

V roce 2022, z iniciativy Provincie bratří františkánů vznikla publikace věnovaná vzniku relikviářů - s názvem "XIV"

The brethren were killed on Shrove Tuesday, 15 February 1611, during the invasion of Prague by the Passau Army. The armed Prague mob killed them, but the real reason for their deaths was the bloodlust and the frenzy of religious-civil wars and power struggles, from which the innocent ones always suffer the most. The significance of their sacrifice, however, has influenced all subsequent centuries. The friars were beatified on 13 October 2012 in the Cathedral of St Vitus, Wenceslas, and Vojtěch in Prague. The creation of two portable reliquaries accompanied the beatification. The reliquaries were made for the current Convent of the Franciscan Friars at Our Lady of the Snows in Prague, this Convent being the original Convent where the brethren were killed and where their successors have lived almost without interruption for practically all time. The first, bigger reliquary was first presented at a Solemn Mass on the Feast of the Martyred Brethren on 15 February 2014. The second, smaller, so-called travelling reliquary was created in certain segments simultaneously with the bigger one but was not completed until the end of 2014. Both are housed in the Convent of the Friars, the larger one never leaves it, but the smaller one travels around the Czech Republic and Europe.

In 2022, on the initiative of the Province of the Franciscan Friars, a publication dedicated to the creation of the reliquaries was published under the title "XIV."
